Chava Weitzman - Ecologist and Evolutionary Biologist
Hello and welcome!
In 2019, I moved to Virginia Tech as a postdoc in the Hawley lab to investigate interactions among the microbial community, disease/pathogens, and bird hosts. In 2017, I earned a Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology from the University of Nevada, Reno. My dissertation research focused on disease ecology in North American tortoises, advised by Dr. C. Richard Tracy. Please take a look at my RESEARCH and PUBLICATIONS tabs for more information on these and other projects.
As a National Academies Education Fellow, I aim to continually better my teaching skills and create a student-centered learning environment. For some of the course materials, and to find out more about my teaching, refer to the TEACHING tab.
